Is FileX free to use?
Yes. Opening, editing, converting and organizing files in the browser is free and needs no account. Signing in is only needed for optional cloud storage: 1 GB is free, and a Pro subscription bought in the FileX iOS or Android app raises it to 10 GB.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Editing, conversion and text recognition run inside your browser, so your documents stay on your device. Only files you choose to save to the cloud after signing in are uploaded.
Can I edit Word, Excel and PowerPoint files without Office?
Yes. Open DOCX, XLSX and PPTX files, change text and cells, and save a new copy in the original format. Older DOC, XLS and PPT files are converted to the modern format first. Complex layouts may look slightly different from Microsoft Office.
What can I do with PDFs?
Combine PDFs and photos into one file, then pick, reorder, split and rotate pages. You can also turn pages into images, add or remove a password, and extract text from scanned pages to create a searchable PDF.
Will my original file be changed?
No. FileX never writes to your original file. Every result — an edited document, a merged PDF or a converted image — is saved as a new file.
Is there a mobile app?
Yes. The FileX app for iPhone and Android scans documents with your camera and opens PDF and Office files from your library. Sign in with the same FileX account to use your app purchase on the web too.
